Atlas Obscura Live!
Atlas Obscura Live!
It's time again for another Atlas Obscura LIVE! In previous shows, we've delved into the worlds of SIN and SCANDAL, but this September, we're delving into the world of IMPOSTERS! Our live variety show brings our own writers and editors together with musicians, scholars, comedians, performers, and special guests to share wondrous acts and amazing stories, all based around our totally real, and not at all suspicious show theme.

Join us on Thursday, September 14 at 8 p.m. at Union Hall in Brooklyn, where you can learn how to be your own imposter, answer trivia for prizes, and see both Atlas staffers and special guests Aparna Nancherla (CONAN), Todd Robbins (Host of ID's True Nightmares), Jonathan Soma (Brooklyn Brainery), Shalewa Sharpe (Sirius XM) and more as they talk about the wide world of phonies!

Todd Robbins
Todd Robbins
Todd Robbins is a New York City based performer who has spent decades specializing in arcane forms of popular entertainment, offbeat amusements and intriguing deceptions.
Jonathan Soma
Jonathan Soma
Soma was born in the South, is what someone from the North would say. He cooks for fun, codes for hire, and has more hobbies than can dance on the head of a pin. His work has been featured everywhere from Gawker to The New York Times.
Shalewa Sharpe
Shalewa Sharpe
Shalewa Sharpe is a comic in New York City. Originally from Atlanta, she has performed at The Star Bar, The Laughing Skull, The Atlanta Improv, The Creek & The Cave, and The Knitting Factory. Sharpe is the co-host of Thug Passion Presents, a live show where comedians perform table reads of classic black movies.
Joey Skaggs
Joey Skaggs
Joey Skaggs is a fine artist and social activist. Although he has painted and sculpted throughout his life, starting with his iconoclastic and controversial performance-art protests in the Sixties, his public work took on a new direction. Skaggs realized he could use art to challenge the system. Appalled at the cultural hypocrisy he saw around him, especially how it was blindly supported in the media, he began to satirize social issues with public performances and elaborately contrived media hoaxes. The mass media in turn became an unwitting collaborator in his concepts, reporting his satire as news. Joey Skaggs quickly acquired an international reputation as a cultural satirist and media critic. His work incorporates guerrilla tactics and traditional advertising and public relations techniques to promote his staged performances. Few media outlets over the last four decades have not fallen for one or another of his hoaxes. He has been covered in newspapers, magazines, and on radio and television around the world, in some cases many times as different people.
