Cover Your Idols
Cover Your Idols
Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, Cover Your Idols plays other peoples songs for fun. They come together as member of various other bands that have thrived in the New York City punk scene such as Up For Nothing, Step Aside, Counterpoint & The Etcetera. The band was initially put together back in 2011 with the idea of setting up shows and donating the proceeds to various causes. In October of 2015 they decided to call it quits to focus on their other projects. The band decided to reform in 2017 with founding members Justin Conigliaro, Jerry Farley and Jonathan Cellura wanting to take the songs they grew up listing to into the studio to create their own versions in the form of multiple digital recordings. It was not an initial plan for the band to perform live again but after being confirmed to play FEST 16 in Gainesville, FL they have decided to add a very select amount of dates surrounding the festival. Cover Your Idols will be continuing their initial mission of donating all the proceeds of their live shows to various causes, and the proceeds of this particular show will be donated to "First Descents" which offers young adult cancer fighters and survivors a free outdoor adventure experience designed to empower them to climb, paddle and surf beyond their diagnosis, defy their cancer, reclaim their lives and connect with others doing the same. This show is in memory of Genevieve Collura.
Mikey Erg!
Mikey Erg!
A wildly prolific figure on the American pop-punk scene,Mikey Erg is a singer, songwriter, drummer, and guitarist who earned his punk handle from his stint with the New Jersey punk outfit The Ergs! Erg toured relentlessly with The Ergs! and recorded and toured in countless other acts. Among them Dirt Bike Annie, The Unlovables, The Dopamines, Star Fucking Hipsters, House Boat, the Worriers, and For Science. The Ergs broke up in November 2008 and Erg stepped up his work with other bands. In 2011, Erg stepped out with his first solo record, a vinyl EP titled Valentine's Day in which he played all the instruments on. Other vinyl EPs followed, and for a tour of Japan, Erg and Barrakuda McMurder produced a joint release on the most obsolete of all formats, the computer floppy disc. The year 2011 also marked the debut of The Chris Gethard Show, a satirical talk show starring the musician turned comedian, with Erg performing and writing songs as part of the show's house band, the LLC. After appearing on New York public access TV, the show was picked up for national broadcast by the Fusion cable network. Now a genuine TV star, Erg finally released his first proper solo album, 2016's Tentative Decisions, through Don Giovanni Records.
