Live Karaoke for the Resistance: Women's March Edition
Live Karaoke for the Resistance: Women's March Edition
The Occasionalists are back with more Live Karaoke for the Resistance. This time we're pre-gaming for the Women's March the next day! We'll be featuring a diverse set list featuring, among many others, such female-centric songs as "Respect" by Aretha Franklin; "Cannonball" by The Breeders, and "You Don't Own Me" by Leslie Gore. It's a benefit for two important advocates for women's issues: Safe Horizon -- assisting women who have been the victim of sexual violence; and EmergeNY -- identifying, training and promoting Democratic women candidates for elected office. Click our Website below for more information and complete set list. And 'like' us on Facebook!
The Occasionalists
The Occasionalists are a Brooklyn-based band of multi-instrumentalists specializing in live karaoke gigs in and around Brooklyn. Since the November election, the band has dedicated itself to performing live karaoke benefit shows in and around the city. Most recently, the band performed its annual Halloween Rocky Horror Picture Show live karaoke at The Bell House in Gowanus where we raised over $3000 for the Ali Forney Center and the Center for Anti-Violence Education. Over the course of 2017, the band has raised about $20,000 for causes such as women’s reproductive rights, immigration, the environment, LGBTQ and the arts. So come on out, warm up those vocal chords and get ready to rock for a good cause.
