My Hometown: Three Year Anniversary Show
My Hometown: Three Year Anniversary Show
New York City: The Big Apple. The Concrete Jungle. A Catcaller's Paradise. Each year, millions of people from all over the world decide to start their lives in New York City, but where did they come from? And what did they leave behind? Well, that's what native New Yorkers Ilana Michelle Rubin and Lana Schwartz want to find out. Each month, they invite some of the city's funniest comedians to talk all about their hometowns. Were there football games? Pep rallies? What about Makeout Point? They want to hear it all, and so does their audience.
Ilana Michelle Rubin
Ilana Michelle Rubin
Ilana Michelle Rubin is a writer, stand up comedian, and improviser who often wonders how Drake spends his days off. Her work has been featured on Reductress, Daily Dot, and Play Too Much. In addition to being part of Nanners Comedy, she is also a writer and actor for the web show Deada$$, a parody late night talk show.

She loves Twitter and Instagram much to her own detriment, so please follow her on both platforms (please). Ilana previously worked at MTV, where she gained professional producing experience. These days she spends her afternoons babysitting, raising New York City’s youth to the best of her ability, while focusing more of her time on her comedy career.

One time in high school, her friends paid her $10 to dance silently for half an hour, and that is something she would happily do again today.
Lana Schwartz
Lana Schwartz
Lana Schwartz is a writer who was born, raised, and continues to live in New York City. She is a member of the sketch teams 17:38 and Deathbird, the latter of which currently has a show running at UCB called HINT: A Murder Mystery. Lana was previously a contributor at StarWipe, and she's also written for The New Yorker, The Hairpin, Above Average, The Toast, mental_floss, and various other sites around the internet. As one half of Nanners Comedy, Lana creates videos for the internet and hosts the monthly variety show My Hometown. By day, Lana is a writer at an environmental non-profit, which means she's happy to talk about climate change literally any time you would like. For more on Lana, as well as instructions on how to pronounce her name, please visit www.lanalikebanana.com.
Sydnee Washington
Sydnee Washington
Originally from New York City but raised in Oakland, California. Growing up with a backyard & a big wheel really has made her more approachable than most New Yorkers. Currently a cast member on MTV's international show "Vidiots". Recently performed her sold out solo show "Death of a Bottle Girl" at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre. Residency at "The PIT Presents" for 2016. Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival 2016. Hosts “The UnOfficial Expert” Podcast with Marie Faustin available on iTunes & ComedyHype. Has appeared in AustinMartinez Music Videos on TruTv "Late Night Snack". and various YouTube videos for VH1, GQ and Elite Daily.
Jo Firestone
Jo Firestone
Jo Firestone is a comedian based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work can be seen on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Chris Gethard Show, and heard on WFMU. She was recently named a New Face at the 2016 Just for Laughs Festival. If you like puns, check out Punderdome: A Card Game for Pun Lovers. If you don't like puns, please disregard. You can also see Jo doing stand-up in different basements around the city. Hope you like basements!
Josh Gondelman
Josh Gondelman
Josh Gondelman is a writer and comedian who incubated in Boston before moving to New York City, where he currently lives and works as a writer for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Onstage, Josh charms audiences using his good-natured storytelling and cracks them up with his sharp, pointy wit. He takes topics from surprise parties to his experience teaching preschool and makes them all equally hilarious. This spring, he made his late night standup debut on Conan (TBS), and he can also be seen on the first season of Night Train With Wyatt Cenac (SeeSo). Josh’s newest comedy album Physical Whisper debuted in March at #1 on the iTunes comedy charts (as well as #4 on the Billboard comedy chart) and stayed there for…well…longer than he expected, honestly.
Eudora Peterson
Eudora Peterson
Eudora is a comedian from New Jersey, but she performs in New York because the rules there are much more lax. For example: in New York, you can be a prop comic and people will still respect you, even if you don't have credits. That said, she's been featured on Splitsider, Jezebel, The Huffington Post, and she's *never* used a prop during a performance. Never.
Fareeha Khan
Fareeha Khan
Fareeha Khan is a comedian based in Brooklyn, NY by way of Virginia. She performs around NYC regularly. She was lucky to be one of eight comedians chosen to participate in the Riot x TBS comedy writers lab in 2017. She's written and performed original content about the Muslim American experience for MTV Decoded. She co-hosts 'Sup, a bi-monthly show and a weekly open mic featuring female, queer, and gender non-conforming performers. The show has been called "a phenomenon: a wildly supportive, female-driven event" by the Stellar Underground.
