BackFat is a Time Out Critics' Pick comedic monthly variety show that's been going strong since 2012. It's is mix of actually-good standup, actually-funny music, and not-boring comedic readings.


Tix are $6 online and $8 at the door. The show is hosted by Larry Mancini (of the punk band The Tracys—now playing on the radio!) and Emily Winter (writer for NPR's "Ask Me Another," The New Yorker).

Emily Winter
Emily Winter is a writer on NPR's "Ask Me Another" and an NBC Late Night Writers Workshop script judge. She's also written for The New Yorker's Shouts & Murmurs, Glamour, Fusion TV, TV Land, and The Barnes & Noble Review, and has performed at San Francisco SketchFest, The Limestone Festival, Laughing Skull and many others. Emily co-created WHAT A JOKE, an anti-Trump comedy festival that raised more than $50K for The ACLU over inauguration weekend in 2017. Emily hosts and co-produces three live shows: BackFat Variety, Comedy at Rose Gold, and Side Ponytail, is a Midwestern gal who loves cheese curds and fastpitch softball.

Larry Mancini is the bassist / banter-ist of the Brooklyn punk band, The Tracys. Their new album, Humdinger, has been described as "out now" by numerous publications.
Josh Gondelman
Josh Gondelman
Josh Gondelman is a writer and comedian who incubated in Boston before moving to New York City, where he currently lives and works as a writer for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Onstage, Josh charms audiences using his good-natured storytelling and cracks them up with his sharp, pointy wit. He takes topics from surprise parties to his experience teaching preschool and makes them all equally hilarious. This spring, he made his late night standup debut on Conan (TBS), and he can also be seen on the first season of Night Train With Wyatt Cenac (SeeSo). Josh’s newest comedy album Physical Whisper debuted in March at #1 on the iTunes comedy charts (as well as #4 on the Billboard comedy chart) and stayed there for…well…longer than he expected, honestly.
Kate Willett
Kate Willett
Kate Willett is a comedian, actress, and writer whose raunchy feminist storytelling is both smart and relatable. Her 15 minute special will premiere on Netflix in 2018.


She was recently a correspondent for the JIM JEFFERIES SHOW at Politicon 2017. She’s been featured on Viceland’s FLOPHOUSE and her appearance on Comedy Central’s THIS IS NOT HAPPENING was on Splitsider’s list of “2016’s Best Late Night Standup Sets.” In the past, she toured with Margaret Cho nationally and internationally and has featured with comedians like Kyle Kinane, Jen Kirkman, Ali Wong, Dana Gould, and Greg Behrendt.


She has appeared in the Just for Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival, Limestone Comedy Festival, High Plains, Big Sky Festival, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, San Francisco Sketchfest (5 years in a row), and most recently Laughing Skull. Earlier this year she was a “Comic to Watch” at the LA RIOT festival.
Sam Taggart
Sam Taggart
Sam is a standup, writer, and actor living in Brooklyn. He is a creator of various live shows such as Live on Broadgay, Sam's BIG Day, and Lake Homo High. He also co-hosts the standup shows Future Forms and Stevie. He's had videos featured on IFC, acted on The Late Show w/ Stephen Colbert, and was named one of Brooklyn's 50 funniest comedians by Brooklyn Magazine.
Brian Bahe
Brian Bahe
Brian Bahe is a Native American stand-up comedian and writer originally from Phoenix, Arizona, now based in New York City. His stand-up is partly about his cultural upbringing in Arizona. It's also part "New York is crazy." It's a lot of unique, silly stories and insights from an unheard perspective in comedy.

Brian has performed in the Orlando Indie Comedy Festival, Gilda's Laughfest, the Dallas Comedy Festival, Beast Village Comedy Festival, and many others. He co-hosts and co-produces the stand-up showcase GRANDBABY every Tuesday night at the karaoke bar Baby Grand in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, which features comedians from Conan, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Viceland, and more. He also co-hosts the weekly comedy podcast UFOlogy where he talks with other comedians about UFOs and the latest in UFO sightings.
Ethan SP
Ethan SP
Ethan is a young comedian from in Waukegan Illinois. He started stand up at the tender and unfunny age of 18 while in college in Iowa City. In college he opened up for the likes of Loni Love and Cameron Esposito, and moved to NY four years later. He has been described as "not the funniest person in the family" by his mother and father. But determined to take the title of funniest in the family Ethan pools a lot of his comedy from everyday life and his hilarious family as well as goofy throw away jokes about food. He is also pleased you read this far in to his bio and can tell you really love comedy. He is excited to see you at the show! He also wrote this whole bio and it feels weird!
